This reading discusses both the masculine and feminine sides of the soul in relation to God. It seems to me that this concept of God is like an overbearing parent possessively watching his children. This type of person who devotes his entire life to supposedly pleasing God must live a very boring life or be a first class masochist, I suggest. No matter what happens to you or how much you get slapped around in this life, you get up, dust yourself off and thank God for the miserable and painful experience!
