When we give ourselves credit for accomplishing something we are really guilty of polytheism, according to Abi'l-Khayr. We cannot give ourselves credit for something God alone can do without thinking we are some kind of God ourselves. All things are done by his love and grace, not ours.
There are some souls that are illumined and seek to be the light that guides others into the path of relationship with God.
